Missions Of Mercy Tour

Woot!  Welcome to my first book tour ever! I'm so glad you're here.  I'm hoping to do a few of these.  To be honest I was nervous about this one because it's my first.  I always feel nervous when people give me free stuff and expect something back. :]  So with out further ado...let's get started.  For my first tour I was given a Missions of Mercy series by Susan May Warren.

Three heroes, all on missions of mercy, who discover that God not only saves us from evil, but from the darkness inside.

Point of No ReturnAn American boy and a warlord's engaged daughter have disappeared-together-in an Eastern European border country. Only one man can find them in time to prevent an international meltdown-Chet Stryker. But Chet is taken aback when he realizes the boy is the nephew of Mae Lund, Chet's former flame. When Mae insists on rescuing her relative herself, Chet knows he has to protect her from the enemy on their trail. Yet can he protect himself from falling for Mae again?

Mission: Out of Control
Brody "Wick" Wickham is a former Green Beret turned security agent-with a 100 percent mission success rate. No way is his new assignment changing that. Even if it's protecting a diva American rock star while she's on tour in Europe. Except Veronica "Vonya" Wagner isn't just a beautiful celebrity used to having her way-she's the daughter of a U.S. Senator. And she's hiding a dangerous secret. When Wick discovers what's at stake, how far over the line will he go to keep them both alive?

Undercover PursuitThe only way to get security agent Luke Dekker to a wedding? An undercover mission as groomsman. He'll bust the groom, a drug cartel heir, before anyone can say "I do." Then Luke can escape all this love and romance nonsense-and the too pretty bridesmaid/agent assigned as his "fiancée" for the weekend. Until Luke discovers that sweet, vulnerable Scarlett Hanson isn't his contact. Isn't an agent.

Isn't trained for the high-stakes mission now trapping them both. And worse, Luke's falling for her-which is not part of the assignment.

My Thoughts On The Series:

I'm just going to be honest and tell you all up front, I probably will never read these books again or recommend them to anybody. Here are a few reasons why:

1. In every book the theme is romance. I was reading a blog the other day, and this person (<--Click Me) was saying that in most romance novel the romance is pushed into something fake. And I totally agree, which is why I think I've been pushed into a sifi phase for book reading. I'm just so sick of fake romances. And all three of these books are perfect examples of what a fake, unrealistic, artificial, chemistry lacking and unapproachable romance looks like.
2. Not to mention the fact that there is little to no development of the characters. I want to see big, huge changes in these peoples live. I don't care if it's their out look on life or on a certain person but I always get hooked on complete 180's in attitude.  And I didn't see much here. I think Warren tried to make it look like there was at the end...but there wasn't.
3. Also I think it's very important to mention in what way the romances were fake. I felt like I was watching a bipolar romance. For example, have you ever watched a movie where someone was like, "I love you with all my heart and soul"? And then the other person does something stupid or maybe even really nice, which ever, and the person saying, "I love you" is all of a sudden saying, "Get back you hateful demon of disgusting value!"? Yeah. It was like that.
There was a Facebook page I remember a friend talking about. This friend doesn't join many pages but the one they did was call, "YOU CAN'T LOVE SOMEONE AFTER ONE FREAKING DAY!". Now, I don't completely agree with this, but it makes sense that someone got frustrated and posted it. You  can't say you love someone and then decided you don't and then decide you do again and then decided you don't again and then decided you do again...do you get the picture?
I would be frustrated too. If witnessed someone acting in the way I just explained, I would be wondering, how can you love someone after one freakin' day? I wouldn't believe that the next person to tell me they loved me, really meant what they said because the last person couldn't make up their mind. And that's not true love. And therefore it is not acceptable.
4. I felt like I was in high school. Sometimes I look at the way women around me act, an I wonder if high school will ever end. And by the looks of what I see, it won't until they're too old to speak. Which is fine, whatever floats your boat. But please don't make me read it too.

Therefore, I give the series an overall score of 1 1/2 stars.

I'm sure I could go on about how these books are perfect examples of how not to act and what not to do...but I'm pretty sure you got my point. And I'm pretty sure I made a few people angry. I've been reading through everybody's reviews on this tour and I'm pretty sure everyone gave it a better review than I did.  Please don't leave any rude comments. I won't respond to those. But if you would like to have a calm, civil discussion about these books, please comment! I love comments, especially if they promote discussion.
